Zu is an instrumental trio from rome, italy, formed by drums & bass & alto/baritone saxophone. Since 1997 Zu has recorded 5 cds and played hundreds of shows all over Europe an Usa. The new album Igneo is recorded at Electrical Audio by Steve Albini in Chicago and features Ken Vandermark on tenor sax,Jeb Bishop on trombone and Fred Lonberg-Holm on cello, simply some of the best musicians of the new Chicago scene. After the 1997 Cd Bromio Zu also recorded 2 albums with the avant-guitar-icon dr Eugene Chadbourne , The Zu Side of the Chadbourne and Motorhellington (covers Black Sabbath , Jobim , Kraftwerk , Mingus ...), Both had enthusiastical reviews worldwide and even got in the top 5 of usa jazz radios published by the american magazine Jazziz. Zu played many tours with other great bands and musicians as The Ex ,No Means No, The Vandermark 5, Dkv Trio, Ruins, Fantomas , Otomo Yoshihide, Chris Cutler , Fred Frith, Tom Cora, Han Bennink and others.
Zu sono un trio di Roma, formati da basso, batteria e sax. Dal 97 Gli Zu hanno registrato 5 album e girato per l'Europa ed Usa in un centinaio di concerti. Il nuovo album Igneo è stato registrato all' Electrical Audio di Steve Albini a Chicago e ospita Ken Vandermark al sax tenore, Jeb Bishop al trombone e Fred Lonberg-Holm al cello, semplicemente alcuni dei migliori musicisti della scena di Chicago. Dopo l'esordio Bromio in Cd del 1997, ZU hanno registrato due album con l'icona avant.chitarristica Eugene Chadbourne : The Zu Side of the Chadbourne e Motorhellington (covers di Black Sabbath , Jobim , Kraftwerk , Mingus ...), entrambi recensiti enetusiasticamente in tutto il mondo, ed entrati nella top 5 delle radio jazz USA pubblicato dalla rivista americana Jazziz .
